Being a web developer myself, I'll write a bit about the new Dreamweaver.
Help the UN World Food Program to end world hunger
posted on 13 March 2008 (09:37 PM)
The UN World Food Program has created a game to gather food for third-world countries.
In the game, you have to guess the correct synonym for an English word. For non-native speakers it can actually be quite challenging and educational.
Below every question is a different ad, and that way various advertisers sponsor this initiative. I think it's a great idea and gladly link to it. Apart from being a great new, inventive way of helping others, the game is actually a nice use of modern web technologies like CSS and DOM scripting.

posted on 25 January 2008 (12:59 AM)
Wow. Everyone, and I do mean everyone, seems to be talking about Microsoft's version targeting system, that's to be introduced in IE8.
MS sure knows how to stir things up. Here's my take on it.
Bye bye freelancing

I've been meaning to write this post for a couple of weeks now, but I've deliberately kept my spare time computer-free (well, mostly. You know how that goes).
I'm happy to announce, though, that as of the first of December 2007, I've been working for Dutch Internet Works.

Why use semantic class names?
posted on 06 February 2007 (04:48 PM)
In the new Dutch accessibility law I recently linked to, one of the guidelines is Use semantic and descriptive classnames and ids
.
Why? A lot of web standards / accessibility advocates talk about this subject and everyone mutually agrees that this indeed should be pursued. I don’t get it… why should I care?
Fighting spam using MySQL and PHP
posted on 27 December 2006 (07:14 PM)
Spam is a terrible, terrible thing. And I'm not even talking about spam emails. Luckily, I don't receive a lot of Viagra, free offers or casino coupons in my mailbox, so when that happens, I just send them straight to the trash bin.
I'm talking about comment spam. This form of spamming is even worse, 'cause it's out in the open, where everyone can read it, polluting innocent websites that have got nothing to do whatsoever with that malicious content.
In this article I will provide a way to arm yourself against this criminal behaviour.

Web 2.0 sucks
posted on 09 September 2006 (03:29 PM)
Thank you, marketeers! Thank you for this wonderful term. Web 2.0 really is spot-on. Allright, let's drop the sarcasm; buzz-words suck. I believe they endanger the web and confuse starting web developers.School and the web

What has always bugged me is the way I've been educated in building web pages. I think it's great the Web Standard Project has formed a task force for improving that particular case.
